How to Measure

• Use a metal tape measure - it won't stretch like a cloth tape and distort measurements.
• Round to the nearest 1/8".
• Measure every window - windows that appear identical often are not.

Inside vs. Outside Mount

Inside mounted treatments are contained within your window frame. You may prefer an inside mount because it provides a finished, built-in look without covering the window molding; it is also suggested for the 1st layer of a layered window treatment.

Outside mounted treatments are mounted on your wall or molding. They are often used to make a window look larger, to hide a less-than-attractive window, when windows aren't square, or when there is not sufficient frame depth for inside mounting.

Measure your windows

• Measure the width first and then the height
• Measure every window, even when they appear to be the same size
• Survey the window. Are there any obstructions such as window crank, step molding or trim - anything that will affect the required operational clearance?

Inside Mount

• Your frame needs to be at least as deep as minimum depth listed on the Product specification page. This should be unobstructed depth, including any handles, locks, etc.
• For the face of your treatment to be flush with the wall, make sure your frame depth is the same or greater than the Flush Mount depth indicated on Product specification page.
• If your frame depth won't accommodate the blind or shade you've selected, choose an outside mount.
• Measure Width at top, bottom and center of opening: For Roller Shades and Vertical Blinds record top measurement. For all other treatments record narrowest measurement.
• Measure Height at both sides and center of opening, record the longest measurement. For Vertical Blinds, record shortest measurement.
• Note: you don't have to make any adjustments to your window measurements, we do it for you. Outside Mount bullet Measure the area you want to cover, including any overlap on the surrounding walls. You'll need at least 2" of flat surface above the opening to allow space for mounting brackets. Recommended overlap is 3" (1 1/2" each side) for width and 3 1/2" (2" top, 1 1/2" bottom) to the height.
